Known especially for its musical history and traditions, the city of Cremona gave birth to famous luthiers and composers, like Stradivari, Guarneri and Claudio Monteverdi. City’s musical history is proved by the beautiful and lively Ponchielli Theatre, by the many lutheries, the most famous in the world, and above all the International Violin Making School, where an ancient tradition is handed down from one generation to another and by the Museum of Violin: here you will be enchanted by the history of this instrument, in addition to admiring some of the most precious and superb violins in the world.

Departure is planned at 9:00AM from Piazza Castello. 

 

The bus will take towards the South of Milan to Cremona, the world capital of violin. 

 

Start the visit from the centre of the city, where you can learn about its story that dates back to Roman times. We begin down in the piazza del Comune, to visit the Cathedral, one of the religious architectural masterpieces in the north of Italy. Then to the Baptistery, built in 1167 in Romanesque style. Continue by going up the Torrazzo, the belfry, from where you can see how the city expanded during time in the fertile Po valley. 

 

Stop to enjoy Marubini for lunch, typical dumplings from Cremona.  

 

Continue to the Ponchielli Theater, that still makes Cremona an exceptional musical center. Follow the trails of the ancient technique of making violins visiting some “botteghe”, workshops, as well as the International Violin Making school, where the best violin makers in the world are trained. Finish by visiting the new Museum of Violin. 

 

The bus will take you back in Milan in time for dinner.
