Turin is a city in constant evolution: from Augusta Taurinorum (27 a.C.) to the capital of the Savoy Dukedom, (1563) until becoming Italy\u2019s first capital (1861), the queen of the automobile industry (1899) and the star of the 2006 Winter Olympics. A city that is just waiting to be discovered in all of its many aspects: filled with historic evidence, acclaimed museums, works of contemporary art en plein air, cultural events, with its characteristic arcades, renowned historical meeting places, spacious parks and magic places.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The arrival of the group from Milan is scheduled at 9.30 to the Castello di Rivoli\u00a0Museum of Contemporary Art <\/b>whose construction begun in the 11th century as a military stronghold; owned by the Savoy since 1247, the castle was the first court of the Duchy of Savoy, transformed into courtly residence in the 1600s, with the addition of the “Manica Lunga<\/i>” -the art gallery of the Dukes- more than 140 metres long. The Castle of Rivoli is now home to the Museum of Contemporary Art that has a prestigious permanent collection and occasional major exhibitions in an original historical and architectural context. After a welcome coffee, the group is led to a visit of the Museum.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Afterwards, the group moves to the city centre where the visit of the National Museum of Cinema <\/b>is scheduled. It is host in the Mole Antonelliana, the architectural symbol of Torino, begun in 1863 by Alessandro Antonelli and initially meant to be a synagogue. Its construction was completed in 1889: at 167.5 meters in height, it was the tallest masonry building in all of Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2000 and 2006, the set designer Fran\u00e7ois Confino, planned the setup of The National Cinema Museum: a truly one-of-a-kind in Italy and among the most important in the world for the richness of its collections that covers the history of precinema and cinema in interactive and spectacular settings.<\/p>\n

Before the visit, which will focus on the Digital Panorama, a light lunch at the cafeteria of the Museum is offered by the City of Turin.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Next, is a guided walking tour of the city focusing on Urban Art<\/b>; the end of the tour is in the \u201cRoman Quadrangle\u201d where participants can enjoy some free time in this lively neighborhood before leaving for Milan at 6 pm approximately.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
