Via Tortona: from industrial archeology to art and design center
In May 2015, in the former Nestle industrial area opened “Armani Silos”: the museum that Giorgio Armani has created ofor its 40 years of activity. Built in 1950 for the preservation of cereals and and restructured by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the silos has four levels with a total of about 4,500 square meters, that accommodate a selection of the designer’s creations.

The industrial complex of the former steel plant Ansaldo is dated back to 1904 and covers a total of 70,000 square meters. In the 60s it was used for the production of locomotives, railway and tram carriages. In the 90s the City of Milan bought the area with the goal of converting it into a space for the promotion and dissemination of cultural activities.

Magna Pars Suites Milano, luxurious five-star hotel in the heart of Zona Tortona, was born in 2012 from the transformation of the premises of the former perfume factory of the ICR Industrie Riunite SpA Cosmetic. Inspired by his origin, Magna Pars Suites Milano is the first “Hotel à Parfum” in the world.
